France West coast trip

Hello All,

Just back from a great two weeks in France care of our Rapido 997M. Oh how we miss the great French roads, where we can turn the music down, and converse without shouting over the road noise. How come Britain and Ireland can't build and maintain roads like that??
We originally planned and booked to go return from Rosslare to Roscof by Irish Ferries to save having to travel through England, and the busy traffic, but that didn't happen due to Irish Ferries messing up the sailings two weeks before we were due to leave. After a bit of good work by our agent who we have used for years, we went out by Cork to Roscof on Brittany Ferries, (very good sailing, and great helpful staff) but could only get back on the dates we needed, by Dunkirk to Dover, and then Holyhead to Dublin. We never book anything on these trips, so we just made this part of the holiday, and called with our daughter in England on the way home.
France in July is never too crowded and we always use the satnav to find sites and have never booked. This worked well again this year, with a new Garmin Camper 770 LTM-D which has campsites already loaded, and has reviews etc.
This year we stayed near the West coast, and dialled in sites near the beaches which worked very well. The best site this year was du Letty near Benodet. It fronts on to a beach, which has a lagoon and some great water sport opportunities plus walks and two swimming pools etc etc. Would recommend this site to anyone going that way - great for all ages, and near the town, and bus services. Bit expensive compared to other sites, but it has more facilities and there is a lot to do on this site, plus a great shop and helpful staff who speak English.
The weather of course was sunshine all the way same as everywhere else, which is the first time in many years that we have not had a thunderstorm during a Continental holiday.
Best wishes to all you Motor Homers heading that way - enjoy those smooth roads while you can...
