how about a thread where we can post numbers on sites, if there full etc.

We could have a quick look down the list and see where's available and where's full especially if you have no definite plan and nothing booked.

Full tonight Saturday 5 May, one space available tomorrow. If you are ever thinking about coming to us, our website has an availability page.
Quiet after the weekend but we will be full for the June Bank Holiday.
There are several wild camping spots close to me if you ever get stuck.

Great idea especially the popular locations , it might help with keeping the numbers down and keeping the locals happy when we park up in carparks

We are here in Nagles in Doolin , all hard stands gone since yesterday and about 60 % of grass area gone today. The surprising aspect for me, as a campsite user for nearly a decade is that campervans and motorhomes are easily 50 % of the customers. The massive family tents have disappeared. I understand that Doolin is wind sweeped on a good day, so the ratio of c'vans and mh here today might not be a national trend.

I was at north beach campsite just north of Dublin last week. It is one I would always have used when I had a caravan. Last week there was only 1 Caravan with everything else motorhomes or panel conversions 2 rented bunkcampers) and one tent. A huge shift in the last 2-3 years.

I would agree about the shift to c'van/ mh from a different veiw. A mate of mine sells bus tours to the UK for sport matches and school tours and he does be in Dublin port 3 or 4 times a week checking in buses onto the ferries. Recently he commented to me about the number of mh been imported daily into Dublin port from the brand new to the preloved ones.

I count 9-10 vans at the hook on the webcams. Weather looks pretty grim though. Was the same in Carne up till 10.30 at least, gave up on it then and came back to wexford. Sunshine all day here from when we got back around 11. Mad that it’s so poor on the coast and come in a couple of miles and it’s great. 🙁🙁

Very nice “lady” had words with me this morning down at Donaghadee , there was 27 motorhomes by end of play last night , we and three others parked facing the normal spaces , loads of room left in the car park for the locals, seemed to be another motorhome group had a group meeting . Anyhow the nice lady said the locals had complained about the amount parked there , funny when we were spending are hard earned cash in their shops the locals were encouraging us to come back , think thenice lady may of had a touch of the green eyed monster or wanting to be hitler , one to watch defo lol , anyways heading to Glenarm were the locals love us 😘

Our motto is wherever we spent the money, let the retailer know as where we are parked for the night. The retailer will always inform you on the safety of the parking.
It is very simple in that the retailers pay the local council rates not the householders.

Hook head had 18 vans of mixed origin South,North,UK, EU, good few of weekend campers .
Also Handful of the cuzzins on their annual walkabout.

Stayed at Maheraroarty Harbour . Nine vans there last night. Had a great trip out to Tory. Weather magnificent.

Going to Tollymore from Mon to Fri next week but they are booked up from Sat 4 Aug ...but height of holiday season...and BH w/e down south.
Had to pay in advance on phone ... through rangers in hut, but their plan is to change over to booking online.
Anyone else going next week?

Looking to go to Keel campsite in Achill for the August bank holiday. They don’t take bookings on a bank holiday. As we don’t expect to be arriving until late Friday evening it would be good to get feedback from any member about numbers.

I was talking to a friend camping in Keel this weekend and he said it was quite full so probably full next weekend , I have stayed there before on August weekend and found it a bit rough Lot's of youth's having too good a time but that was a few years ago , if you decide to go there's always the Aire in Achill sound to use lots of room there as its an Aire type site

That’s good to know Eirebus. I didn’t know about that aire. I reckon there is also probably enough space to wild camp around Keel should the campsite be full. As for the youthful element, well I don’t mind slumming it in the ghetto as long as it doesn’t get too rowdy.

There is also wild camping over at Keem Bay and a campsite reopened in Dugurt last July.

Normally we can’t get away on weekends, as Nigel plays bowls on Thurs and Sat, but should be able to get away later today/tomorrow till next Wed.
As BH w/e up North and Pope in Dublin any suggestions, would we need to book?
Any craicers going to be anywhere this w/e and if spaces?

Anyone over Buncrana direction? Are there spaces in the Aire and what's the weather like? Forecast so cramp thinking of staying home :-(

Just about to commence my 7th season and I have never encountered the demand for camping this summer. I guessed we would be busy with condensed season and people simply wanting to escape after being confined for so long.
But was a bit sceptical as normally 50% of my business is from outside Ireland but with many sites operating at a reduced capacity or introducing a minimum number of nights stay it has reduced the availability of suitable sites for the Irish market.
I suspect if campsites are going to be full the Aires and free camping spots will also be chocker.
If you are thinking of campsites then have a plan b and c in mind.
