The only problem with that sort of motorcycle is that someone of my proportions would need to put a plank sideways across the seat to stop it disapearing   I prefer the one I have which is roughly twice the weight of the KTM (without me on it )

I would like to take one of my bikes on a trailer too. I found a trailer/hitch online that just lifts the front wheel of the bike. (I can't manage to upload the photo of it)! My bikes are 1450cc and 1100cc, so would pull the back section off the camper if I somehow got a forklift to lift them onto the rack. I don't really want to go and buy another small bike rack friendly bike. Has anyone ever used one of these trailer/hitches? Are there any restrictions with license or insurance?

As long as you passed your test before 1997 you are automatically allowed to tow a trailer, after that above a certain weight you must do a trailer test. There is a law either coming out or is out that towed Caravans must be insured, not sure if that includes trailers.
I also heard of a legislation that has came into force that all trailers must be Manufactured and not home built, again maybe someone else can shed more light on this?

The manufactured trailer situation is true, its part of standarising the rules across europe. In spain for example all trailers must be mot'd and over a certain size be registered with their own registration number plate.

what cc ally,is it true you can only ride up to a 200cc on l plates now.used to be up to 250cc
It's a 200cc. Can only ride up to a 125cc on L-Plates and the CBT has been introduced in NI, not sure if their is a similar scheme in the South, so that would have to be passed before being allowed on the road. I remember it used to be 250cc as I used to ride a 250 before getting the full licence.

It's worse than that, you can only ride up to 125cc on L plates, once you have passed your test you are restricted to 33hp for two years. It doesn't matter what the cc of the engine is after the test but must be certified as being restricted to 33hp. I had a 600cc sports bike as my first one after passing my test which was capable of around 150mph, restricted it could do no more than 90mph (I was told this as I kept to the max 45mph that R drivers are allowed to do     )
