Garmin Drive 51 discount Aldi

I have been thinking about buying a Sat Nav and noticed Garmin Drive 51 LMT-S in Aldi as the price was a bit lower than other stores. And now I see the price has come down again. €99 now, was €129.

Anyone have any experience with this line of Garmins?

Sounds like a good price but I don't know the spec.
We have been using Garmin for years without any major issues however all systems have their glitches.
Make sure there is enough storage for map updates and importing POIs in kml format is possible.

I’m thinking ahead for a trip to France. If it gets me to a location reliably with lane assist, it would probably be fine. I would probably rely on the smartphone and Camper Kontakt app for POIs if the Garmin could not import them.

It's not an MH sat nav so I would always have a map as backup , no doesn't matter what sat nav you use I would always have a map ,

I agree completely, especially for Ireland. I don’t use the sat nav ever, in Ireland anymore, in less going through a large city.
I now look at a map before I go and note the road numbers and town names along the route.

I see nothing to suggest that you can get MH detail. If I end up getting one in my local Aldi, I’ll report back

So I popped into Aldi. The Garmin 51 is indeed reduced to €99 but I ended up getting the Garmin Nuvi 2597LM for €129. I was swayed by the voice control and the Bluetooth calls feature. I was meaning to get Bluetooth installed anyway so I figured why not. Lifetime maps for Western Europe ( inc. Ireland and Uk) included.

I invested in one that you can put all the details of the vehicle into and was a difference? No more hair raising moments or reversing? It was the best £400 quid I’ve spent in a long time.

and the Bluetooth calls feature.

I have an old Garmin with bluetooth, the bluetooth was as useful as an ashtray on a honda 50,

Try the bluetooth and if your not happy Aldi will refund without hassel,

Well my new Garmin got us to Fanore campsite this evening ok. Not that I didn’t know the way but you know, gotta check it out. Tried a Bluetooth voice call. It worked. Overall, fine so far.

Quiet here in Fanore . If any other Craicers around here or in O’Connors Doolin tomorrow evening, don’t be shy.
