Well... doesn't matter if it's a camper, car or bike, if it's parked in a no parking zone it will get clamped, no?

Definitely give us some more detail though :)

It was within a bay, as you go into the pier. No where near the fishing boats working pier. Ourselves and a few other motorhomers left so have no photos( although I don't know what that matters!) there was a notice place on a car windscreen also say not to park

When you raise the alarm about campers getting clamped, I guess we want to see what was the story with it to kind of asses if it was your man clamping just because or if the van was parked just wrong big time...

There's a lot of variables to it and we hope to have more evidence with a pic I guess :P

Cheers
Rami

The message has been very clear, don't bring a Motorhome to Howth Harbour unless it fits inside a car parking space. Plenty of other places for us to go where we feel welcome and can spend money on things other than Fixed Penalties.

I would say that it was a few very inconsiderate Motorhomers that caused the problem in the first place.
To many vans staying for to long any giving no consideration to others in that area, but as usual when something is free it will get abused.

i took the camper to howth on friday, parked in a bay, no problem. There were two others parked nearer ther train station end, one of them had a latvian or lituanion plate, not sure which. It was in a bad state of repair, so maybe it was this one, mayber it was there for a while. I dont know.
We werent staying overnight, just a few hours.
Although i heard Faughs gaa club up the hill are now doing campervan parking, i will check this out.

Binn eadar is the one on top of the hill and I have stayed there in my camper with a club. Great spot with a bar.

Yes, I'd say they would take a craicer meet. The club meet we attended was a small one ,about twenty vans .

Binn Eadair GAA club would be an amazing spot with fab views of Howth and beyond.

We stayed in Howth many times, and every time my kids play in the GAA club I've thought it would be a fantastic place to park up.

It could be a win win for all concerned hopefullythis will come to fruition.

It would be great for all motorhomers if the GAA and other sports could let us park up. The same old problem of insurance comes into question again. The ICCC has its own insurance so thats why we can use GAA AND Rugby grounds.

What exactly is the difference between the ICCC insurance and what AXA offer
Motorhomers with Dolmen.?

Not the same insurance products. Dolman insurance is for your van, to drive, breakdown all the usual. The I.C.C.C. insurance covers their public liability to their members or the public when they attend a rally on somebody's premises. Two different types of insurance. .

A very simple document can be drafted to state that motorhome occupancies are indemnify from the club's insurance. It is similar to what is signed when partaking in adventure activities, paintball shooting, iron man type exercises etc.
Once the motorhome occupants have signed this, it is very difficult to make an insurance claim.

It looks like the owner put that on as a security measure?

That is exactly where the one in the photo I took today was parked so I wondered if that was what Reddef saw last weekend.
It is an anti-theft device
