I am just back from a 3 day trip to Wales with the local rugby club. We brought 2 bus load of kids for a tournament and then to a Leinster /Osprey on Saturday night.
When we were checking in with Irish ferries at Rosslare on Friday morning, our tour guide told everyone to put our phones on airplane mode.
Irish Ferries have fitted a satellite mobile phone system onto their ship to keep you in contact but there is a cost that your phone plan does not cover.
To make or to receive a call is €2.03 per min and to send a text is 39.36 cent each.
There is still free on board wifi.
Just be careful because your phone will lock automatically onto the Irish ferries system without your consent. By turning on airplane mode, this stops the locking system but afterwards you can manually turn on the wifi only.
I hope that this saves someone a suprise bill.
