Bicycle Rack Alarm

Has anyone bought an alarm to go around bikes on a bike rack that they would recommend?

I would recommend a motorcycle chain.

They were selling locks wth a alarm in it at thr NEC a couple of years ago that and a chain would work.

You can get a fairly cheap wire type alarm where it will trigger a very loud alarm if it is cut/circuit is broken. I have one somewhere I got years ago and was considering adding it as an extra line of defence for the bikes on the rack at night time.

The wire is easily cut or pulled from the lock but the noise is deafening. Thieves probably know a way round them already though.

if you have the Strikeback Alarm fitted by Simon at LTS it has the option of a wire that goes from a plug at the rear of the van and loops round the bike rack. If the circuit is broken, all hell breaks loose. Not a cheap option, but then the Strikeback is a blooming good alarm system.

We don’t have an alarm but always use two locks laced through each wheel, frame and bike rack frame because our wheels can easily be removed as they are quick attach.

I have everything inside now so don't have to worry as much. Simon fitted a Strikeback alarm 14 years ago and we havnt had a problem with it. When I am on site for a day or two I chain my scooter to the chassis of the van at night
