Leaving Good Friday for County Donegal to tour for a week. Some time off work booked.

I'll do a bit of a blog here. A few Craic'ers have arranged to meet up over the week, different days and same days. Should be great Craic as always!

The three Nordy vans left Lough Ree East Athlone and we headed to Drumsna, County Donegal. Paul (chevy g20) burst a power steering hose, so that's not going to be fun for him

He decided to get over the shock by drinking vodka.

Woke up this morning'ish to a cold, wet and windy morning.

Plans been a bit hectic, our Son was to come and visit in his "new to him" Motorhome, but it wasn't ready on time, so he has been trying to book somewhere like a glamping pod or something, but they are either booked out or they don't accept dogs, he finally got somewhere this morning - I'll post where, when we get there. But we will meet up with him tomorrow.

Today we will head further North, perhaps Rosses Point for the night, not decided yet.

The warning on our app about the no parking or overnight camping, CCTV and clamping is in force sign, is of course correct. It also mentions to ignore it, after discussions with other Motorhomers who stay regularly we did just that.

It has to be the biggest sign we have ever seen for no overnight parking.

When I was there a couple of years ago there was a toilet block where you are parked! No one must need to use a toilet when they visit the beach, they will probably have to stay a night in the campsite

Ran out of gas, used 11kg bottle since Friday, sounds not right.

Have a spare 6kg, but where the hell do I get LPG near here

A small leak maybe ??? We were in Ardmore Thursday and was getting a bit of a whiff from under the van. At first thought it was the waste tank, but then copped on it hardly could be as it would be leaking then most likely. On further investigation it was the gas connection had loosened a bit and gas was accumulating under van. Tightened connection and all good.
Then if it is cold and heating on constant, it will consume a lot as I’m sure you are aware

Pat kindly suggested removing the belt from the power steering pump. However Jon who has the same engine said that the power steering pump was included in the belt pulley system and couldn't be isolated. Thanks for your advice guys.
I am becoming an expert at driving with no power steering as the other hose blew about 5 months ago and I had to drive it home. As everywhere was closed for holidays I decided to venture home on Monday evening. I had arms like Popeye the sailorman by the time I got home. Unbelievably heavy, I was used to driving a ducato with no ps as I had one at work about 10 years ago, but this is in a whole different league especially braking into a down hill corner.
Anyway to cut a short story long, new pipe on today and rejoining the Easter tour in Donegal tomorrow. At least my liver has had 2 nights rest.

I also ran out last night, similar to you full on Friday night, but the way the heat was blasting I wasn’t surprised, my backup 6kg is a bit on the light side so it was an early night then used the 6kg this morning for heat/cooking etc and it seen us through as we were heading home anyway. I looked at where to get it as I was near Kincasslagh and it was on the route home

Ahh that makes me feel better. It was damn cold and the heating has been on constantly since Friday. Seemed a lot to use but if you used the same then it makes sense.

11kg between lunch time Thursday and midnight Monday.

MMM magazines April edition has an article on a “Gas Stop” device that will cut off your gas supply if it detects a leak. Might save some money as well as being a a useful safety feature?

Just went to BMG in Bundoran and bought an electric heater, that'll save the gas a bit

.

Termon Complex last night. (new aire POI on the app)

Great place, you are just parked in their car park but its clean and tidy, staff are very friendly, cafe is great! showers, toilets, fresh water, cassette emptying, EHU if needed. €10 per night without EHU. One pub within crawling distance, another three within staggering distance. Indian restaurant. Two walks, one in the forest about half an hour long and a river walk about 10 minutes long, both could easily be made longer, but you'll see that if you visit. Would stay another night but need to go and get LPG so a bit further North for us. Onto a POI I have been wanting to go to for some time.

That whole peninsula is astounding Ally, the whole way around the Innishowen 100 is lovely. No problems parking, some great pubs too !

addendum

Got home Sunday 8th April.

On our journey my Chromebook flew of the bed and broke the screen.

Thought its been a while since I started our Rover - wouldn't start (got there in the end)

Sat down to do some admin on MHC and turned on the PC, it wouldn't boot. After a fashion it turns out it was the SSD, so i have had to revert back to a Mechanical SATA drive. I knew the SSD was quick, but I never realised how much until I had to go back!

After 2 -3 days of updating windows on the new drive I was back in action.

I'm just gonna stay at home from now on

If that had of been an iPad it would have been fine. Also the computer would not have needed rebooting if it had been an iMac. Time to to make the move .....
