A mate of mine has squeezed his 7.3 metre coach build through the gap.
A different option, since it is really quite in Ballina / Killaloe is to ask at Flanagan bar for parking at the river. The promise of some food or drink purchased could soften them.

I parked there last Sept. no problem, its a lovely quiet spot. The sign at the entrance indicates a maximum width of 2.6 metres, you can check this on Google Street View. Enjoy your stay.

You will get in alright, it is very tight but you will not get out on a Sunday morning if you don't move early as there is a Farmers market along the street before the entrance, just bear that in mind.

We stayed there Monday of Patrick's weekend , my van 2.3 m wide and sign said 2.6 m wide , I thought the van would fit in but wasn't sure about wing mirrors so we parked along by the canal , no signs and no problems

Was tight to get in and out but there had been two vans in there from the night before, trapped in by the market, so I figured it was the right place.
The old boathouse (or whatever the old stone building is) has no overhang to the roof so it's easy enough to navigate through the pinch point, keep the door mirror clear of the wall on that side and once you could see the bollard in the other door mirror you're pretty much through.
Nobody disturbed us for the night but the wind and rain was another story.

I have two other drivers in the family , so I measured my van including the mirrors and added a bit to the height and length , this is printer on the visor, as a guide , so they have no excuse and don't have a problem.

The secret is to not drive straight towards the entrance. Drive towards the old stone building and when you about 25 feet from it turn towards the lane keeping in a straight line through the bollard until the front right wheel of the van literally touchs the kerb of the road beside the canal, then turn inwards slightly allow the right front wheel run tight beside the kerb.
When leaving keep the left front wheel tight to the canal kerb and at the last second, turn slightly right to pass through the gap.
A mate of mine got his 7.5 metre coach build in last year with no problems.

I reckoned I'd get the van in ok but as there was no market on I just didn't bother
