Lagan Canal Restoration

Evening all,

Just been reading an article in the Belfast Telegraph which seems to indicate the possibility of restoring the canal from Belfast to Lough Neagh with an investment of £80 million.

http://www.belfasttelegraph.co…92452.html

May I ask the powers that be on this site, in partnership with the MCC and Motorhome Association (also the CC and C&CC) investigate the possibility of approaching the Agency who will carry out the study and redevelopment to include 'aires', were feasible, in any spend to improve the efficient use of taxpayers money and increase touist revenue.

Could hold some promise!

Davy

I wouldn't expect anything from them, they have their own gains to make with sites.

Planning permission passed North & South for Ulster Canal linking Lough Erne to Lough Neagh. More new harbours managed by Waterways Ireland..
Hopefully work will start in near future.
Waterways Ireland welcome Motorhomes to their harbours
Services include fresh water, toilets, showers with Waterways card
Have stayed in various ones with no hassle O-) :D

Yes I have stayed at various waterways sites in the past, but it would be good if it was formalised and a proper service point installed at each location.

This would also act as good P.R. for trying to influence local councils to make provision since it would indicate Government approval for such provision both North and South.
