Arrived at the marina about 1.pm Fri 19th. Only one other van there, had coffee and off for wee dander up the Omeath green way. A cold biting wind on my face and intermittent rain, sleet and snow.
Nice views over Carlingford lough to the western Mourns, plenty of local information posted along the way and some nice little rivers and streams.I passed a shrine and garden of remembrance and the dilapidated holiday village of Tarn, which would make a good Aires.I soon found myself at the outskirts of Omeath town, turned and headed back.Overall it was nice easy, flat walk which took about two hours and i think, a distance of about 7 miles.Other vans had arrived by then and after a wash and rest I headed up to Sitar bar and Indian restaurant. I ordered a pint of Guinness, then thought sh#t its the fist one pulled to-nite,but watched with interest as he pulled two pints and dumped them before pulling mine,it went down. Later I had a meal of naan bread, pilau rice and special curry.great service and great food. After a few more wee drams (Jameson of course) I had an early night. The next day Ally called for a welcome introduction and to let me know the craicers where going for a walk along the green way,(aawh feck just done it the day before! I though to myself) as i politely accepted.Off we all went for a good walk and an opportunity to chat and meet people.Several hours later and few swallies of the black stuff from a local in Omeath we returned to the marina. That night we went to Carlingford for a drink and some food, the oysters were the freshest I have ever tasted and the cod and chips great.Back at the marina there was a gathering of the craicer clan with tea and biscuits lol and a great night was had by all.So I will round off the mini blog, overall a good place to stay, and a big thanks to all, and remember what happens at a craic meet stays at the craic meet! lol
