Tain Holiday Village

We stayed at Tain in our caravan a few times, I think if must been 20 years ago, I remember the kids being very young. Rumour control had it that it was ruined by Belfast Caravanners coming down at the weekend and fighting, can't even remember who told me that. I spoke to a local at the weekend and he explained that the Irish Government offered money to house immigrants which the owner accepted and it became a private type of residence for them, no more tourists. It then went from bad to worse and eventually closed.

It's a sad sight to see, part of it would make a great Aire, the services are still in place. But I doubt that would ever happen.

Pity to see it like that,
But if there was trouble it was bound to happen

We walked past it the last time we were in carlingford. It is crazy to see all the pitches overgrown.

It’s an awful shame OK. We passed it the last time we were there walking, and like you Ally, we thought it would make a great aire.

Interesting. We passed by there about a year and a half ago and we couldn't figure the place out. Our conclusion was that it was a 1970 hotel built with the leprechaun effect and ran by Basil Faulty. I would imagine that the demolishing cost of the building would cost more than a green field site.

It was St Micheal's boarding school before it was turned into the holiday village. Such as shame. would be nice as an aire. some nice coastline the other side of the building. you can walk it when the tide is out.
