The reason I'm asking is that I have had the van (my first ever) for around 4 months, every time you put it in reverse you get a picture, nothing unusual in that says everyone. Well I was at the KFC in Calais to get a little sustenance and turned on the camera to see if there was anything behind me as I got the radio sat nav etc sorted and all I could here was a noise like interference and some music. I checked the sat nav the phones etc and nothing it was then that I discovered that it was coming from the camera screen!
Well, when we got to the port I sent swmbo out to say a few unflattering comments about me to see if it was picking up sounds and low and behold I can hear everything that is going on behind me when the camera is on. I have had a look and I don't see a mic anywhere and none of my friends cameras have sound just a picture, I have found it unusual and a bit of a novelty.
I'm supposed to have sound on mine but it's never worked. I've also noticed it in some of the ads for reversing cameras. I suppose it's handy if your're about to reverse into something and someones shouting at ya.
