Hi Tom, I used to ship out of Plymouth to Santander with furniture down to southern Spain . I liked Britany Ferries there were always clean cabins and good food. The only thing was as you round France into the Bay of Biscay you catch the Atlantic on the side giving you a roll. Always had Sturgeon sea sickness tablets in my pocket so no problem, used to watch the dolphins jumping the boats wake in the late summer ,lovely spectacle.

Did Portsmouth Bilbao 2 years ago Dec/Feb with no problems and doing it again next month.
Cap Finistere was fine.

Just thinking that is a route we could take to Spain next year...maybe bit too much for dog...could sedate her.

Then I read:
>>The only thing was as you round France into the Bay of Biscay you catch the Atlantic on the side giving you a roll. Always had Sturgeon sea sickness tablets >>.

I get seasick just thinking about rough sea. I remembered 40 years ago we were in Bay of Biscay on a cargo ship (wives could go deep sea) It was an experience! The kind you laugh about afterwards!
Hopefully in 40 years, ships particularly Ferries are more stable. Can this rough sea be any time of year?

Yes the Bay of Biscay is like a lotto ticket, if you are lucky ,flat as a pancake but when the tide and wind get together, hold on to your saddle.

is the plymouth-santander a longer journey time wise, than the portsmouth-bilbao route. i see that it takes 24 hrs to bilbao. do the prices generally stay the same or do they vary at times,ie. special offers.

We get a pet friendly cabin on Cap Finistere and our dog just takes it in her stride.
