Stayed for a night in Annagassan, it was lovely there by the quay. Went to the local bakery on main street the following morning and bought bread, apple pie. they were both still warm. A lovely village. No other camper there with us.

The more I read these forums the more I'm liking the east coast north of Dublin.
Definitely a few days tour coming up with the sites mentioned on MHC.
But Cork next weekend for the bank holiday...... anyone down that way ?

Has anyone watched the ferry at different states of the tide to see how overhangs on Motorhomes will fare on the ramps. I wouldn't be in a rush to try it out until I knew better what the angle of slipway and angle of ferry ramps were like.

I have used 2 or 3 other ferries over the years and the rule of tumb that they use is , that your overhang must be less than 1 metre pass the back wheels. Our overhang is just under a metre. The other thing that they require is that MH reverse onto the ferry.
The Rathmullen to Buncrana was the steepest that I have encountered so far, and according to my wife I had less that an inch clearance after mounting the loading ramps.
The price quoted for MH is probably to discourage MH from showing up at the dock.

Spent Sunday night in Annagassan harbour, one other camper there. A nice quiet spot. We had a fantastic meal in the Glyde Inn and the following morning bought a few items in the shop. I made sure both establishments knew we were in a motorhome at the harbour. Both businesses were very positive towards motorhomes, long may it continue. Stopped off in Foley's Tea Rooms , worth a visit, in Castlebellingham for a nice cuppa and panini on the way to Carlingford.

It’s an excellent spot we go to chill out often and enjoy the food and beverages in the local pub. There’s a great wee supermarket in it too, so don’t be loading up with food support the local businesses.

That’s good advice Jack, leaving a bit of money in the places we motorhomers use/stay/overnight is one of the most important things we could do. After all we are ‘using’ their local area and giving something back in return if at all possible is a pro-active way of encouraging and fostering acceptance of motorhome tourism.
