Pity we couldn't get in on the idea and tell them how to do it economically. ie no need for EHU. I think all carparks are missing a trick here. The vast majority are empty during the night.

The way to let them know is send a letter/email to the relevant department in the council giving them your view on what is or is not required.

Had meeting with key people in the relevant departments of Cork City Council last week. We visited Cobh and Midleton as part of their fact finding exercise.
A clear understanding now exists about just what is required at a Motorhome Parking Place, which is a number of parking bays in the region of 3.5m X 8.0m, and the three services (grey and black water disposal plus a potable water supply).

Expect to see a Cobh type facility somewhere in Cork City, hopefully in the not too distant future. The P+R is only one of a number of the sites under consideration which would fulfill the criteria of access to cycle and bus routes into the city centre.

Is there a group interested in developing best practice recommendations for Irish Local Authorities? I'd like to get involved if there is.

Fáilte Ireland currently have a project underway to put together a specification for motorhome parking areas which will reflect best practice in Europe.
The output from the project is expected to be a document setting out basic design specifications approved by F.I. and available to public and private bodies who wish to provide a regulated parking environment for touring motorhomes.
