We have 8am sailing in early july to Holyhead. Does anybody know if you can arrive and park there the night before? Preferably inside the security check?

Re: Overnight parking Dublin port for early sailing to holyhead
You won't get through the gates until it's time to sail, there is a parking area for lorries beside the petrol station but it's very noisy you won't get much sleep. You would be better off parking a bit out from the port and travelling in.

howth is about 45 mins drive at the most, allowing for traffic, and a nice safe place to camp overnight. that might be an option, depending on what time you have to board. if it sails at 8 and you board at 7 you will probably need to be there about 6.30, so your journey time from howth is about 30/35 mins.
Went last year parked with four others in front of the
fillingstation asked ininside of problem very handy
you never know when port tunnel is closed as it was
on the way back hour and a half in through city compare
to five minutes in tunnel.

I have seen people have said parking overnight in Howth.....I have the same question as we are travelling Sept. I looked on google earth for spots to camp but it looks like 'the summit' has a gate across the car park. Is it 'cliff walk' that is a good spot? We only have a small Motorhome. Howth looks quite residential from google earth. Thank you.

hi brunodog,
the best parking is in the carpark on pier. if you google it you will see as you come into Howth you take the l/h turn just at the train station, opposite the Findlater i think its called. You then take the immiediate right and follow the road all the way up to the top, you will see parking bays marked out over to the left. you might even see other campers parked up. There has been talk of the harbourmaster having a go, but if you park in between the lines, and dont obstruct anything, he seems to be ok.
Hope this helps.

Stayed here two nights ago. Payment is €2 per hour, but reduces for longer stay. Paid €10 for 6-12 hr stay. They have signs up that there is 6 hrs free parking if you obtain fuel and mention the parking while paying. (Don't know if applies to trucks only). Payment is at kiosk in the carpark itself or on the footpath to the service station. Coins or Card taken.
Very busy parking spot and used by trucks and buses. Was noisy at times, but very safe and beside the service station for food/toilets etc.
