Looking for advice please. I had a close encounter with a stone wall and my poor Burstner now has damaged plastic trim beside the gas locker. I have emailed a number of breakers in Ireland and UK but no success yet. It's a 535a 2002. Would really like to get the actual piece rather than filler or something like that. Any ideas folks? All advice appreciated,

Hi Hector
A good body repair centre should be able to put that right and you won't know the difference.
I had a job done on my back bumper which was as bad as yours and after it was repaired it was as good as new.

Many thanks Big Liam, appreciate that. I am not having much luck with getting the original part - the fibreglass sounds a great idea🙂

Thanks Johnny's. I'm in Dublin.
Just back from body repair shop. Quoted €350 for good as new job. Well I don't have that kind of money at the moment so it will have to wait a while 😔

if you google plastic bumper repair you might get some around dublin, theres a few advertise on donedeal as well they might just
be cheaper thatn that, also just looking at the pictures the damaged piece looks one complete section around the locker maybe you can remove it in one and have a crack at a repair or leave it in, the fact it`s removed might make the repair a little cheaper!

Thanks Oldautotrailer. I have tried a number of places for the actual piece that is damaged. You are right, it's a complete panel which could be just replaced, but it's proving hard to source one. I will keep trying for the moment, and will have to bite the bullet and get the job done if no other alternative.

Hi Hector, I once repaired a plastic washand basin using fine aluminium mesh and fine fibreglass matting. For the paste I used cheap epoxy resin 2 pack. I think if you used a stainless steel wire for to profile it you could get the shape back and then fill in. It could be worth a try.

Would you consider checking out your insurance and the excess on it. I had a claim couple years ago for a sum under 1000euro, cant remember exactly, and my insurance stayed the same after the claim..maybe an option for you.
