Extending Fiamma Bike rack

Hi all, I have a fiamma factory fitted bike rack with three holders. Has anyone tried extending the rack to take 4?

Weight is not an issue as two of the bikes are less than 8Kg each (road bikes).

Looks like the frame should extend but I was wondering has anyone ACTUALLY tried this and has first hand experience ?

When we were buying our MH, it had a bike rack for 2 bikes but we wanted to carry 4 bikes. The dealer priced the parts to extend the racks but he also priced a new fiamma 4 bike rack. The new rack was only 25 euro dearer than the few spare parts to upgrade the original. I checked the prices on fiamma.com and the prices were similar to the quote. In the end we went new because some for the original plastic parts were perished and looked sorry.
In fairness the dealer gave us a reasonable trade in value for the old rack.

4 bikes puts a lot of stress on your back wall, especially on our country roads.

I bought a new camper a few years ago and it was recomended that you only fit a two bike rack, for warranty reasons i got the two bike rack fitted and bought the remaining parts to convert it to a three bike version.
As previously posted a four bike version would put a lot of preasure on the back wall that it is mounted to.

We were lucky that we were able to fit a 4 bike rack because we have rear fixed bunks, so the top anchoring points correspond with the support beam of the top bunk. When the rack is loaded you would notice a change in the van handling especially on back roads. It probably explain why the front wishbone bushels have been done recenty, on a MH with just 22000 kms.

After the problem I had with the back wall on my van, I would not dream of putting a bike rack with 4 bikes on it.

the bikes are all very light thoroughbred carbon racing bikes. weight is not a problem. Even with all four they would come well inside the weight limit of the three bike fiamma spec. i'll try donagheys for extension parts.

Bikes bouncing on the back of a Motorhome while driving over rough roads will put a bigger load on the rack than the actual weight of the bikes. It helps if you put the heavier bikes on the inside near the back wall. Personally I would only use a chassis mounted rack, that is what was on our Knaus when we bought it and I made a Chassis mounted bracket for the last van and dropped the Fiamma rack on it.
