Is there anywhere in Sligo town itself to park for a night, I normally use Rosses Point but wondering if there's anywhere in the town that's safe for a night... Any help would be great thanks...
Hey there, we stayed in Sligo last weekend in fact. We took a chance and parked in the retail park on the right as you're going into town-Smyths/Electrocity/McDonalds all there. Its about a 20 minute walk into town. It has no height barrier but does have security gates which are locked at night. I don't think they were too pleased we were there as thankfully we weren't clamped but there was a note left on the window the next morning asking that we would "refrain from parking overnight in the future". Which is fair enough, but neither Rosses Point or Strandhill campsites were open yet. We had been sussing out other options in town itself on google maps but as it was late when we arrived we didn't have much time to spare to drive about as we were going to a gig, but had come across parking at the cathedral in town. It appeared to be spacious and had an exit fee of €2 or €3, the entrance might require some cautious manoeuvring but should be ok! We had also spotted a car park on Wine Street (easy remember) if you wanted to look those up.
There's definitely a need in the town for proper camping/areas to park up.
