Hi,

The engine has packed up in my 1993 Fiat Ducato Camper :(
Do you know where I might get a Peugeot boxer 2.5 L, 4 cylinder Diesel engine to fit it?

Hi Wizz as you probaly know it is the same engine as yours in the Peugeot and Citroen vans. I dont know if a car engine would fit,but you could check this out via the search on the various U.K.motorhome clubs and gain a little knowledge as it is a common problem. There is company called Traynors in Dungannon who also have a depot at Newark in the U.K. who break commercials and I know supply a lot of used spares to the trade all over Ireland

What happened?! (Same engine as myself - so any warnings are very much welcomed!!!)

Have you tried east coast campers? Only place I know that acts as a form of breakers for campers!

Check donedeal.ie and adverts.ie I think someone was selling an engine a few days ago on one of those sites. Could yours be reconditioned?

I saw one on either Donedeal or Gumtree last week. The seller was looking 500

the head gasket blew in the engine straight after it passed the CVRT, mechanic reckons they revved it too hard during the test!
So it either needs a new cylinder head or a new engine.
I have tried East Coast campers but no joy.

Is that possible? Especially with a diesel. Had to be a fault that caused it and maybe the high revs brought it to the fore. I don't think revving it alone would do the damage.

I would go down the road of replaceing the head gasket a lot cheaper than a new engine and a lot quicker

Hi wizz , I am open to correction but I think the fiat unit is totally different than the peugeot/citroen unit,if it is the 2.5td engine it was fitted to a few vans. its commonly referred to as a sofim unit.there's a guy on adverts selling one from a scrapped fiat daily
just type in fiat 2.5 engine, the cylinder head might be useful. Also keep checking in here someone more knowledgeable than me might come along! good luck with the search.

I have a second hand cylinder head if required.
I recommend pressure testing and skimming and have an engineering shop who can do it if you require.
