CVRT fail- exhaust mounting needs replacing

So, had our van in for its CVRT test today and although generally good news (I.e no major issues!) it failed because the middle exhaust mount is broken. Hadn't noticed this, no rattles or other signs. Our base vehicle is a Ducato 2.8, 2005 vintage. So, I'm wondering the best course to get it fixed.

- bring it to a Fiat Professional dealer?
- Bring it to an exhaust fitter (like say Quickfit)
- buy a part online and fix it myself

I'm reasonably handy so not scared of tackling it but don't want to launch into it if it needs knowledge and experience that I don't have.

It's the standard Fiat camper chassis, so I'm sure a standard dealer can sort it but don't want to pay odds.

Any advice/suggestions?

Is welding needed or bolting on , or is it just a rubber mount

Not sure, haven't had a chance to look at it- the advisory note just says "badly mounted" and the tech said its the middle mount. Be good if it's just the rubber mount I guess but will have to wait till I can get under the van for a look.

Reckon that's your answer kevin, once you've had a look - you'll know what's what! If you're going the professional route - let me know, I've two points of contact in maynooth that you could go to even to get a price!

I had rubber mounts replaced at the last service on my old van - £2 per mount and a two minute job. Hopefully that is all you need. They do break occasionally.

A good website for pricing parts is mickgarage.ie . It has pretty good selection of stock, but remember thet most MH vehicles start out as chassis and cabs ( like flat bed or tipper truck ) so the commercial van equivalent parts may not fit a MH.

Thanks all. I picked up a rubber mount in Halfords yesterday so will take a look in the morning and see if it sorts it- if not I'll give you a shout Killian, thanks!

Mine failed on the same thing yesterday.I got the 4 Rubbers and fitted them myself,a simple job, they just slide on.
I also need to fit Headlight Deflectors as mine is LHD and the Dips are going the Wrong way.
Does anyone know how accurately these need to be placed

If you ask the tester nicely he should fit them properly with the machine to make sure they are correct,
if the tester refuses you know to watch out the next time,

Might be no harm to ring the test centre and ask before you bring the MH back to be on the safe side

I fitted them to our last Motorhome and had no problem, they came with a paper template to follow for all different vehicles. the most important thing is get the correct ones. the ones here in Ireland are for Rhd vehicles going to the continent, the ones you want are for the continental vehicles coming to Ireland and can be got on ebay from European sellers

I reused mine many times, I put a few dots of a marker around the outline of them before I took them off and stuck them back with silicone within the marker dots when refitting.
