Caravan Club sites receive defibrillator units

Official Caravan Club sites across the UK are set to become safer from the start of June as each one is fitted with an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

With the help of Salford-based defibshop, over 200 Caravan Club sites plus the head office will receive an AED and AED / CPR training so that trained personnel are able to react should someone suffer a sudden cardiac arrest.

David Howarth, Chief Executive at Defibshop, said: “It is fantastic to see this life-saving equipment being available at such popular holiday destinations within The Caravan Club.

“Having the right equipment and training is absolutely vital in the event of a cardiac arrest, particularly if you’re in a remote location, and this could make a massive difference to saving people’s lives.”

Approximately 70% of all sudden cardiac arrests in the UK occur outside of the hospital environment, with a survival rate of only 6%. Every minute that goes by without treatment sees the chance of survival drop by 10%.
