I have posted on it on motorhomefacts, here is the official site for application.

https://www.certificat-air.gouv.fr/

The site is not entirely clear on some points, so some have applied using a scan of the V5 page two as the certification document. The biggest issue so far is sizing the picture for submission. I am waiting until others have successfully received a disc.

Some argue that if you avoid Paris it will be fine, but there appear to be plans to roll it out to 22 other cities and towns. See the list in this article.

http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/m…icles.html

Worth the hassle of applying as it costs only about €5 including postage. It may be that you could inadvertently catch a €100+ fine in another city if you are not on your toes.

Davy

Edit. The other slightly uncertain point was that we assume we apply as a private car if under 3500kg as there is no specific mention of Motorhome she.

I have been looking into it too Davy and not only is there no Motorhome category but there seems to be no over 3500 kg unless you are a lorry or coach

Am I reading it wrong?

Ive applied for my sticker , had to use the laptop not the IPad as I couldn't scan the registration cert small enough- it has to be 200K max which is pretty small so I opened it in Microsoft Paint and scaled it. Ive received th acknowledgment email so hopefully the disc will arrive shortly, will post if it arrives.

BTW also applied for a toll tag for the French motorways, it arrived yesterday so we're hopefully all set for French motoring! It's at www.atmb.com if anyone wants to apply, it's avialable in English, although the documentation is in French when you get the tag !

I don't think I sent anything for mine. Just the reg number, address, and payment method. No V5 or anything.
All on-line, arrives quickly.
We're off to France soon, not bothering about emissions sticker as we're not interested in cities that it effects currently.

have another look at the paperwork that came with the Toll Tag .with my one there was a form for direct mandate for payment ( which you and I did on line when filling in the application on line ) but also there is a request for ID such as an identity card or passport, when I tanked to them the Lady said all I had to do was return the form . I also had a French friend look at the form to make sure of what they wanted.

Your probably right Sprinter.
We've ours now for a few years, ATMB sent us a new tag last year. Our payment is by credit card .
I do vaguely remember scanning my drivers licence come to think about it.

I sent a copy of a utility bill (phone bill) and a copy of my licence, by post. I wasn't sure if my French translation of the documentation I got was right but I think it asked for proof of address (odd given that I wouldn't get the form if the tag wasn't delivered to the address anyway 😏)

Anyhow all sees ok, will have to wait till we get to France at the end of May to see if it works😎

Haven't received the environment tag yet though.....

Interesting post from a member on Autosleeper-ownersforum asking for info on when he was allowed into Paris.

I have turned up this link.

https://www.crit-air.fr/en/informati...cr.html#c26598

You do have to follow a further link to the city of interest. For instance today vehicles with stickers E to 5 are permitted.

Might be worth book marking.

Grenoble has a huge potential area including the motorways through it. Can see this being a good revenue earner from visitors as there will be no signage indicating when you enter the ZPA zone.

Grenoble has already applied the restriction for several days in January.

I've got my vignette OK, Level 4 for my 2005 Ducato engine... the fun bit will be first noticing the warning signs among all the other stuff you have to look out for, and then knowing whether there is a restriction in place- not very user-freindly for tourists anyway!

I assume, Mark, you are asking about the crit-air disc. This thread has become a bit confusing with the toll tags for motorways being intertwined.

I have not seen any reference that I can recall on the 4 other Motorhome forums I frequent. I will try and revisit the threads.

Mark, there is a table on the web site that shows what class each vehicle type is, depending on weight and age. See this web link: https://www.crit-air.fr/en/inf…lours.html
It shows which category and therefore which class you will fit into.

Does this mean that over 3500kg is classed the same as trucks and buses

There is a box on the page with the following text:

Indication about the classification of motor homes

Motor homes with a total weight up to 3, 5 tons are classified as cars.
Motor homes with a total weight of 3,5 tons or more are classified as trucks.

So I'd guess if you are over 3.5t it's a truck classification.

If Class 2 and classed as a truck then the table suggests you are Euro 6 registered after 01/01/14.

However if classed as a car or light utility you are Euro 5 or Euro 6 registered after 01/01/11

I am Euro 5 and 3850 kg, this seems to suggest that I should get Class 3.

However I am registered in 2014 which suggests Class 2

Applied on 12th April and got confirmation email and invoice as Class 2 on 14th April. Actual disc, yellow Class 2 , for windscreen arrived yesterday 22nd April. Doesn't appear to be any logic as to how they arrive at the classification, however I've now got a disc with the registration number on the windscreen.

Also applied the same day for the German equivalent which also arrived yesterday as green Class 4 which is in line with how I interpret their website. Only communication was an immediate email order acknowledgement.

I wonder how many more of these discs for other countries we will need to stick on the windscreen. Instructions say bottom right!!

I only sent Page 2 of the V5C to both agencies as this was the only way I could get the file size down to what they wanted.

As expected the crit air scheme is beginning to extend to other french cities. Looking like Lille, Strasbourg and Bordeaux could be enforcing the stickers by the end of 2017.

http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/m…ckers.html

Worth applying for at only a few euros before next years trips to save hassle.

Situation is complicated. The vignette-system is simple, but every city has it's own rules. In Lyon, people from abroad don't even need a bignette while the French do... Every city makes it's own rules.
As for now, Paris is the only city with a permanent envirionment zone (within the circle of the Boulevard Périphérique), so most people from abroad haven no problem passing Paris. However, in cases in heavy polution, te area is widened and also applies for classes 4 and 5, normally allowed in Paris centre. In lille, the zone now is only applied in case of high pollution, but they'reaimeing at a permanent zone also.
The vignette is just under 5 euro, so my advice is to get, just in case. However, keep in mind that even with a vignette older motorhomes classed 3, 4 or 5 could be banned. Especially in cases of high pollution. In these cases, it should be mentioned on information panels above or along the roads.
Furthermore, keep in mind that the mentioned official link at gouv.fr is the only one where you pay just 4.80 euro (including sending to other countries). There are other sites, much better in seo marketing, that charge up to 30 euro for exactly the same vignette.

I thought we might as well have at as we do visit some of the larger cities.

And lo, it came to pass that the Crit Air scheme crept further across the French countryside, or the cities to be more precise.

https://www.connexionfrance.co…n-stickers

A pat on the back for those who, despite the ‘don’t do it’ lobby have had the wit and wisdom to spend the four euros. The roll out of the scheme will catch people out since there is no trumpeting of the expansion by the French authorities or the uk newspapers.

If France start to make things difficult for Motorhomers sure Spain is just a little bit further down the road where food and drink is much cheaper.
