Parking in Dublin over St. Pattys

Hey everyone!

Some friends and I are coming from Canada to Ireland for 2 weeks (March 14-26) and are trying to figure out accommodations and or/a camper van. We're thinking we'll stay in Dublin from the 14-19 and then get a camper van to travel around the country. We can't find any accommodations (hostel, hotel or airbnb) in Dublin over st patty day weekend so thinking about getting the camper van while we're in Dublin but I have no idea where to park it. I know there's a place at Camac but that's pretty far to get to after the pub every night.

Suggestions?

Thanks!!

A lot of campers park at Howth Harbour. No facilities but right beside restaurants, pubs and train and bus into Dublin city centre.

Have you tried b and b/hotel accommodation outside of the city centre?

😠 😠 :cense: ST PATRICK'S DAY. 😠 😠 You can get a bus into the city centre from Camac Valley, I think the times may be on their website. Greystones is another option but a bit further out than Howth. Have a good read of this forum and you'll get plenty of information on both. Dublin will be fairly busy at that time, especially if the we3ather is good, allow plenty of time to get around. If you're planning on watching the parade get to your spot early and not too much drinking beforehand, remember, what goes in must come out. Enjoy your visit for ST PATRICK'S DAY.

I think St Pattys day = St Paddys day......... Common mistake for our transatlantic neighbours to make !
Well that's all it gets up here in any case......... St Patty has feminine connotations IMO !.......

Back on topic;
Concur that Camac Valley is your best bet, but why not get to hell out of Dublin for St Paddys day ?..... Much better places than this overcrowded overpriced city to spend the Irish national holiday.

I agree with suggestion to celebrate the festival outside Dublin. Lots of towns have their own parades, without the crowds and possible messiness of Dublin City.

I think any Provincial county town, away from "touristy" areas ..... Without stereotypical Irish tosh laid on for tourists.
Most large county towns have nice parades, towns that put on events after the main parade are good with a good night atmosphere.
Sligo town has a nice parade and it's a lovely town to visit.
Donegal town is also a nice town, good parade too.
Letterkenny has a big parade each year, but I feel the atmosphere is more a "drinkers" scene !

That's the North West, any others got recommendations for March 17th ?

I think Greystones has a parade, for sitting near Dublin. Also Wexford town probably has a parade and is touristy without the begorrah, leprechaun type of thing.

I was at Greystones a couple of years ago and had a great weekend, good parade with great festival feel, plenty going on in all the bars etc.
