Hi all

We are over to travel southern area for a couple of weeks June Galway down, as we done a north last year.
What is rules for wild camping in Southern Ireland and what is your best site for finding parking spaces anywhere in the south. Are there many aires.

Trevor.

Usual rules apply, perhaps arrive late and depart early. Trust you instincts about where you stay. Lots of quiet harbours and lots of accommodating pubs and restaurants. Put a little business their way.

The biggest problem you will have in the ROI is disposal of rubbish. People are encouraged to take it home, so public bins can be a bit scarce. Dispose of at every opportunity. Water (fresh and grey) should also be dealt with as opportunities arise. Toilet emptying can be done at public toilets if done discretely.

Check out the map on here and the new craic app ( motorhomeparking Ireland by Paul malone) is worth a fiver in anybodies money for info on parking and overnighting. There are a few Aires and plenty of camp sites to do a single night for showers, battery charging and fluid exchange.

The Shannon waterway has lots of good stops and service points and the wild Atlantic way is a work in progress for parking. I would suggest when you have decided roughly where you want to visit, check out the map or the app and ask for more targeted advice.

hey TJN, Davy has hit the nail on the head with every point! We've wildcamped most of the time we're away and the map has been invaluable! Plus the reviews are an added benefit as there's nothing compares to the experience people have had in any of the places!

There aren't a lot of dedicated service facilities and you do need to make use of what you see as you go along. You may even want to consider a night on a site to do a full service along the way.

To echo Davy even further, when you have an idea of the route etc. I'm sure more information could be given :)
