Hi all any advice on best way to clean gunk from kitchen waste pipe. Have got some of it manually, afraid to use any of the known chemicals in case they are too harsh on pipes and fittings.

We have used Mr Muscle pipe/drain cleaner in the last Motorhome, we seemed to get no bad effects from it. But I'm not sure if this is recommended. We also used other powerful drain cleaner, can't remember the name.
We were trying to get rid of a smell which turned out not to be the drain pipes.
You could use this method: forum/topic.php?t=7195 which worked wonders for us. Cleans tanks and pipes.

Pour a kettle of boiling hot water down your sink then put in about 1/2 a cup baking soda and leave for about 10 minutes Then pour a mixture of 1 cup of vinegar and 1 cup of boiling water down the sink and put the plug stopper in let it sit there for around a 1/2 hour. Flush one more time with a kettle full of boiling water.

Thanks for the advice. Its ok for now. Will wait until the problem reoccurs and try something then.
