Need some help pls.

2016 Autotrail Apache. Electric step has suddenly stopped working. The motor sounds like it's turning as normal, but the step is totally floppy, no resistance at all.

I've contacted the dealer but they are bloody useless again and can't look at it until Fri. I'll be on the ferry from Cairnryan by then.

I'm probably going to open the mechanism myself, it looks like a simple plastic cover with 2 bolts.
Anyone able to advise what I should be looking for?

I can live without the step, but the Sargent control panel (EC325) is continually in alarm when driving as it thinks the step is out. I'm trying to contact Sargent to see if I can disable the alarm. Anyone know how to do that?

Thanks in advance.

Its a new Motorhome under warranty, I would not touch it and why should you?, tell them that it has to be fixed before you go to France and if that opens while driving and injury somebody they are responsible also tell them you are going to name and shame them on Motorhomecraic if it is not repaired.
If you go messing with that your warranty could be void.

If your dealer can't fix it before you leave (presume you are going from Cairnryan to NI), can Whiteabbey Caravans deal with it under warranty as they are an Autotrail dealer I think?

Thanks both. I called into the dealer and while they didn't fix it, they secured it properly and it now meets the limit switch to stop the control panel alarm.
