Is it any wonder people take the law into their own hands?

Sorry to hear of your sons unfortunate troubles,be aware when purchasing a tracker that they are not all the same. the cheaper ones are GPS signal and can be blocked by a signal jammer easily available on the internet. Just google signal jammer and you will see them for sale, the more expensive trackers are VHF signal and cannot be blocked.

I used my old iPhone as a tracker.

I've hidden it inside the van, rigged to a charging lead on a 12v timer.
It charges for an hour a day and when you've set up 'Find my iPhone' on another device (or devices), it makes a great tracker.

Works for me!

Very good idea but if someone was to use a signal blocking device it would render the phone useless, saying that it is not everyone that has one of those devices.

Robert: I purchased a TK 103 GPS Tracker a few years ago and find it be excellent.

see: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/pr…S36SQHCW6Y

I have it connected to the battery (via 3a fuse) and hidden behind a panel. There are two aerials (GPS & phone) these are very compact and not visible asI have them placed within the small box on roof that is for tv inlet connection. You will need a sim card (I top up with €5 once a year).

This device has never failed. Our family use it to locate us when touring. We got lost in Antwerp last year and simply texted it and got our precise location on Google maps.

It has its own power back-up and will text you if the 12v supply has been cut.

At c£25 it is excellent value.
