Officially in a bad mood

 ·

I was on my way this afternoon to a BBQ orgainised by my bike club and on my way through antrim comming through the jucntion at the police station some muppet who was in the outside lane to turn right changed his mind as I was comming past and hit the rear panel of my van. Its all plastic damage but what angers me most is that 1. he says I cut him up (7m of van was past before he hit it) 2. He is a doctor - needs his eyes tested and should know better. I think if it hadnt of been outside the police station there may have been a murder lol. I rang Donaghys and whoopee they have all the parts in stock, the parts will cost €1300 plus fitting. I will see how well Dolmens insurance policy works. Oh sent the wife over into the station to get the police out and after waiting for 45 mins gave up they said as no one was injured they dont want to know! I want the cctv to prove it was the other muppets fault after all the station has more cameras than the BBC.

I'm now at home as I have a broken van and am not in the mood to listen to a bunch of bikers extracting the michael at my expense. (have missed the BBq the past 2 years through ill health)

Rant over, this group therapy is good you know, i'm felling a bit better now.

My biggest worry was availability of parts as we are off to Spain in it in July, but a phone call to donaghys has given me some relief as they have all the bits in stock (Knaus don't have any of them) so its now up to Dolmen/AXA to get it sorted, fingers crossed.

Sorry to hear about your mishap. I actually saw you stopped with the car behind you as I passed on my way home in my 2CV from the Ballymena Show. Be sure and let the guy know you are seeking footage of the cameras from the Police.

Nothing as yet, I am still waiting on the insurance assessor to ring (I thought I would give him a days grace) but I will be calling him this afternoon. The kind gentleman who caused the problem rang yesterday to find out what was happening (more amicably than saturday) with a view to sorting it out ourelves but when he heard the costs it is definately an insurance job

Sont worry, I will keep everyone posted as to whats happening and when!

Aaah sorry to hear that, but hopefully you will get it sorrted in time to enjoy your holiday. Tell your insurance company there are CCTV cameras in the area and they can have them looked at (unless you are both insured by the same company - or group of companies)

Good luck.

I thought we were both with AXA but it turns out he isnt  So I will be vindicated, after all he hit the last 30cm of a 7m van. I have already told them of the cctv's in the area so waiting to get word to send it in for repair.

Sounds like a clean cut claim, where he hit your vehicle will make it almost impossible for him not to be responsible. But make sure you are very clear with AXA that you are 100% not to blame and you are not prepared to lose your NCB or have your premium increased.

Next month when you are sitting in Spain the only complaint you will have will the the heat :D

Update, AXA have given instructions to Donaghy's to repair the van and as they have the parts in stock it is going in this weekend to be repaired. They have also been in touch with the other insurance company who, suprise suprise are denying liability, so the investigator is going to call out to see me and get full details along with photos etc and possibly a site visit.

Sorry to hear about your "prang", but on a totally unrelated note, what bike club are you in? I'm beginning to wonder if all bikers once we hit the age of 40 are going to end up on this site! Although, I am still managing to get to bike rallies at this time of the year.

I belong to (and helped set up nearly 10years ago) Phillip McCallen - Riders association of triumph. I haven't been as active the past couple of years due to I'll health, but starting to get back in the saddle.

I'm in Vagabonds M.C.C. but I'm a former member of Hazzard County M.C.C. One of our members from Castlederg had a Triumph Rocket III which he bought from Phillip. I hope you're getting everything sorted after your mishap. Might see you on the road somewhere, either motorhoming or on two wheels!

Everything is good in the world today, I got the motorhome back from Donaghys. A big thumbs up to Paddy for getting the work done so quickly and for such a brilliant job. Now to get ready for my European travels

I have no idea, mine (Dolmen/AXA) paid for the repair of mine with no penalty. They did say after the investigation that it was not my fault and there was nothing that I could have done to avoid it, so overall I can't complain.
