Do you have the book, All the Aires? If you have that you must have to revert to maps. Look up the own in the book and try to find it on the map. Failing that, just drive to the next town and ask. There will be one near you, go there and then sort out the satnav.
Or buy a cheap satnav. All the ones we see in places like Halfords are available in the big supermarkets. Language is unlikely to be a problem and there may be a way of changing the language.

The sat nav is a garmin nuvi worked all the way to piriac sur mer then seems to keep recalculating and seems to be beside the road but can never seem to get on it,I have all the Aires books and was using coordinates on sat nav no problem till now, when I try to pin point on iPad it just freezes as we drive along and it seems to be wonky as well, what is the name of the supermarket that would keep sat navs,we also tried to find supermarket on I phone on google maps and walked to destination only to end up at old housing estate nowhere near a shop

I have seen them in most of the bigger super U's, and Le Clercs. Usually in the same areas as phones and other electrical kit. Although if your other electronic kit is acting up, perhaps it is an interference issue. Does your satnav have a built in battery? If so what is it like if you take it outside the van, perhaps it is not getting enough satellites inside.
If you can post your location we might be able to see where the nearest big hypermarkets are.

There is a huge Carrefour at Angoulins about 6km south of La Rochelle on the route de rocheforte. Easily seen from the road. I have been in it, but cannot guarantee that it was one of those that stock satnavs.
Got to go now but will see if I can spot a Le Clerc or super u later.
Keep er lit. We all managed for years with an AA atlas.

Also hyper U on the route de Nantes out of La Rochelle. Big dual carriageway, hyper U easily seen from the road. Good parking and huge store. Been in it too.
Let us know how you get on.

Did you by any chance update your sat nav before leaving home? this happened to me one time and when I headed down the west coast of France my sat nav had lost the plot completely.
I went to one of the large supermarkets and purchased a new one and when I got back home I found out that the update that I had done did not load correctly. I reloaded it and now I have two sat navs when I go away

Glad you got sorted. Just a pity you had to buy a new one.
