Hi stayed at Hook head Sunday night windy and wild to say the least, just ourselves no other neighbours.
Enjoyed the stay parked in as close as possible to the wall for protection from the wind,
We were watching a Dvd and it seems the 12 volt was just cutting out switched it back on and it
Would go off again after a few tries we just turned off the TV and gave up on it. Naturally our lighting was off also, but after turning the TV off we had no problem with the lighting.
Any ideas on what the cause might be?

We have a solar panel and had drove from Rosslare so should be fully charged 🇧🇭

I agree with John, does your panel do a battery display? How old are the batteries? Was it not very cloudy then, meaning the solar panel wasn't charging that much? Get the batteries tested and work back, is what I'd do.

One of the fuses on top of one of the batteries may have fused therefore you only had one battery to work on.

the Battery might need, top up with distilled water as batteries requires acid to maintain the charge they can dry up over time
if your topping up the battery just cover the cell plates

Anyway we have it booked in for this ,week. 🇧🇭 As you can guess we are not mechanically minded
And it is a gel battery.

The battery needs to be checked with a multimeter as the displays on the motorhome are just a guide, also check when the battery has been at rest for a couple of hours

I offer a very brief and simple guide to battery condition using a basic multimeter voltage reading (which anyone can do):
A. Charge Battery using charger (trickle charge best)
B. When fully charged unplug and leave for an hour or longer
C. 12.4volt or lower battery not in great condition
12.6volt battery has life in it
12.8volt or better battery in good condition.

Leisure batteries are normally designed to be deep cycled (fully charged then fully drained then fully charged again). Rarely does this happen in a motorhome especially one with a solar panel feeding it (like I have) during daylight hours or where it is hooked up to mains and a charger keeps the battery topped up automatically. If good leisure battery performance is important to you there is no substitute, in my experience, for buying a very good quality battery and aperiodically letting it run down then re-charging it.

Hi Pauline, is your tv and dvd 12v or are they 240v and working off an inverter? if they are that can be hard on Batteries alright.
