Truma c3400 not starting

This is my first post so please be gentle on me. My Truma c3400 water heater wont fire up. When I flick the control switch either wat the LED's just flicker. If I flick it to the room & water direction the fan starts up after about 15 seconds. Reading the manual it says that LED flashing on and off straight away indicates low voltage. Checked supply voltage and it's at the requisite 12v. Checked the fuses on the PCB and all 3 are fine. Any ideas?

I'm no expert but I struggled to get my water heater to work until I realised I had to take the external cover off, located outside the van. It might just be that simple, hopefully.

If the exhaust vent is under a window there may be a switch on the window that cuts out the heater to stop fumes getting back inside the van.

Also if you battery is reading 12v exactly it is low on power, a battery should read high 12's or even 13v, can't remember the exact figure at which a battery is flat

I agree with fat controller your batt should be reading 13 -13.5 volts if you have a meter switch a few other things on and see what the voltage drop is your batt may be on its way out

You could try starting it with the engine running to rule out the low voltage issue. Have you also checked the 'cold weather' safety valve is closed and that the water is flowing through the hot water tap.

The year before last I had a similar problem while away in Spain. The system would not start sometimes but after a time it would not start at all.
The red LED was indicating a 'low voltage' fault, the voltage needs to be at least 10.5v IIRC.

I knew the voltage was as it should be so I took the vehicle to the Truma agent in Valencia who diagnosed that the voltage sensing function on the PCB had gone faulty, it was reporting a low voltage and preventing the unit from starting up.
A new PCB which cost €400 including diagnosing the problem and fitting :(
