Two year service

Has anyone had a two year service done on a Fiat recently.
Provisionally booked into Donnellys and they are quoting silly money.
Bearing in mind where we go, it looks like just have to accept it.
They say £90 for the fuel filter alone! :'(

As we have a fleet of Ducatos I can say that £90 is correct for the filter for an original Fiat part, there wont be any questions if there is warranty work to be done when you have a dealer service, so think of it as an insurance fee.

Vehicles operated in the commercial world are not comparable to motorhomes when it comes to servicing.

Certain consumables which are not age sensitive but usage/mileage sensitive may not require replacement within the same time scale as normally applied to commercially operated vehicles.

I understand Johns opinion and its fair enough. My van isn't an ornament, there are 23.000 miles on her in 23 months. Sure that's only 250 miles in a week. So I'm thinking it would need to be done right.

All I was doing was reassuring Nick that he isn't being ripped off in the cost of the fuel filter, I checked and the last ones we got done were roughly £65 plus vat with the "bulk" discount we get. All our Ducatos are serviced at 15000 miles irrespective of wether they are due a service or not as we have found it saves on breakdowns. We also have never had an issue with warranty, on a personal note one of the family cars had an alternator belt fail between services which took out the timing belt and damaged the valves/head, there was a question over the work being done as the servicing wasn't done at the main dealer, why when it's a 3 year warranty, because it's only two from the manufacturer and the third by an outside insurance company who ask more questions and go into more detail. We were able to prove the service etc so it got sorted, but not without hassle (not from the dealer).

It's a bit like Jack taking his to Shelbourne in Portadown when he lives in Antrim, because the Renault dealer has looked after it then it's not an issue to get sorted. Once the warranty is expired then it's probably a no brainer but until then to me it's worth the bit extra.

As a side note the Euro6 engines are going to cause a few headaches especially with those using Adblu, as that stuff doesn't like lying around and you won't be able to operate the engine without it, but that's another discussion for another day.
