Travelling from Cherbourg to St jean de mont, looking the best route and somewhere to stay overnight, maybe a nice aire on route 2-3 hrs max.
Any good reccomendations for sites on the west coast we have 3 kids age 5,10 and 12 and booked castel la garangeoire for 3 days.

The free Aire at Fougeres would suit your plan.
If you do stay there it is worth doing the tour of the chateau.

Agree with Mark. A good aire.
We stopped off at it on our way home. Stayed 2 days. Took in the chateau.
The one below the chateau gets very busy, so try to get there early.
There is another behind a car park at the top end of the town. Plenty of space there and they are finishing off a new toilet block, but the grey & black waste & water is still accessible.
Not available on a Thursday I think as it's market day.
I intend posting a review, but haven't got round to it yet.

Just back from Jean de Mont - think you may be looking for info on aires but - was in a campsite called La Yole with the kids. Really nice site, about 10 minute drive into Jean de Mont but we cycled in as the whole area seems to be set up with cycle paths. La Yole is beside a forest area and we cycled through that into the town. La Yole itself is really friedly and helpful, slightly cheaper we found than the other sites we stayed in this year. Will put something onto the review section soon for these sites.

La Yole is a superb site, we've used it 5 times and would always go back, good, big pitches, great pool area and the staff are the most friendly we've come across in 9 years of French campsites. Say 'hi' to Thierry and the team :)
