Hi all,
Waste tank on my Autocruise Starburst is showing full all the time and the alarm goes off even though it is definitely empty, has anyone any idea of how to go about fixing this?
Thanks in advance.

I have a similar problem with mine. Either shows full or empty.
I presume it is similar to a car fuel tank. ie a float system.
As it is in dirty water, it may be gummed up.
There should be a hatch on the floor under carpets if fitted. This will give access to the mechanism.
Normally a number of screws to remove & the whole mechanism will come out.
It should then be possible to free up & lubricate.
You may need to re-seal when re-fitting it.
I plan to have look at mine first opportunity.

Thanks Pressout, but there is no access from inside the van I haven't been under yet but that's my next move.

I have not seen a float system in any fresh or grey tanks,
What I have seen is a line of 4 probes running vertical up side wall of the tank,
The probes use the contents (water) to cause resistance between each probe thus roughly working out the contents,
I bet when it was working you would be 1/4 or 1/2 but not getting anything in between like the diesel gauge (which has float system)

I'd check the wires on the outside of the tank, if all is good there then get a few buckets of hot (hot as possible) with a good dash of bio washing liquid down plug holes, let sit for a few mins then bring van for 20minute drive on windy road to swill all that around, let sit for a few mins more and then rinse with clean water,
Might solve the problem, but if it doesn't when you open the inspection cap under the tank it should be a lot cleaner to work in,

Let us know how ye get on

I get the same problem on a regular basis and the problem has been there since the van was new.
Donaghy's tried very hard to rectify this and replaced just about all the electrical control panels but the situation kept returning. I was also getting a bad smell coming up through the shower drain plugs and started using a tank cleaner/freshener (can't remember the name I think its made by "THETFORD").Its not necessary to use it every time you empty the tank I use when any hint of trouble and it cures it every time.
