Hydrogen dual fuel system

Hi folks not a problem but more for conversation and peoples thoughts.

I was reading a blog from someone with a Mercedes diesel based 1992 Hymer and he has had a hydrogen duel fuel system fitted. Something similar to this I guess http://www.mpg-systems.co.uk/index.html. He seems to swear by it but I am not convinced

Anyone with any personal experience as I wonder if its more of the smoking mirrors/snake all wonder cure. Reason I ask I am thinking of changing my old girl for a Hymer S700 - non turbo.

Don't know.

Wondering though if you got all three of those fitted that are available on that website, would you be producing fuel instead of using it :D

Do you mean LPG? - if so the returns of converting or adding LPG to a diesel system are negligible to say the least.

What I was interested in was the extra top end speed and additional traction - if I do get the S700 the hill speed is dire by all accounts. They only have to look at a hill and the power drains away fairly quickly.

Haven't got it yet and won't know for definite until the 25th. I am like a cat on a hot tin roof at the moment lol. Minfulltime in the van so the extra space would be brilliant it's just chugging up hills that concerns me lol

Hydrogen dual fuel

Hi -- I would not rely on a change of fuel to do much to help with speed up hills.
It's an inbuilt gearing thing, and other than major surgery ,there is no cure.
Careful maintenance of the fuel filters,in particular the little in line filter, located at the injector pump,is essential to get the best acceleration .
---but really you would be better to try and get a good long hilly test drive, before you decide if this is the camper for you.
All I can add is ,that I used to despair of the loss of speed up hill, but I seem to have got used to it,and
Having driven our van up a few steep ones, I now know that it will get up eventually.
The "mountain" road out of Santander still cracks me up,and I still feel guilty if I cannot get out of the way of other traffic, but It has been very reliable.
Hope that is some help.

Trust me in my fiat based homer I don't go anywhere fast lol especially hills! I would happily pay off speed for room - but your right knowing you will get there eventually. It was just I was interested if anyone had any thoughts about the hydrogen thing. I suspect its snake oil but would like a bit more info.
