Away in morriscastle strand for the weekend. class site by the way.
each night a fan would start running randomly it sounded like it was coming from the engine but couldn't be sure.
it sounded like the engine fan and as soon as it would get to full speed it would stop. this was happening every 10 minutes or so.
I got paranoid that the battery was over charging so switched off the charger.
it would continue but the interval would get longer and eventually it would stop.

Anyway home today, set the van up to test it and see if i could figure it out and do you think it would do it. Not at all. i sat out there all evening and not a noise out of it

Agree about Morriscastle!

Do you have an inverter as they can have a fan which comes on due to heat, no matter if the inverter is running or not, after all we are not used to the sort of temps we have been getting recently (for more than a day!)

most likely candidate is inverter (if you have one), however if it was as loud as the engine fan as you said then maybe not. If you have an inverter check bedding/clothing etc is not obstructing the vent on inverter casing. It will do no harm if the unit is clear of obstructions, but they can get VERY hot if blocked. Unless of course you have aircon unit that no-one told you about LOL!

it's not the inverter that had started beeping the previous night when the battery was low so I'd switched it off.
wish I had air con

Have you a cooling fan at rear of the fridge?

I don't think so it's an old fridge so I doubt it. I left the fridge running and turned off the charger and it stopped eventually.
either way it could be a fridge fan. I'll have to take a look.

There is normally a fan at the back of fridge between the vents to ensure that air flows around the area. Look at area behind fridge to that of outside
