Enjoyed another weekend here , fishing and relaxing in the company of warm and lovely people and of course the obligatory sing along on Sat eve . Missed Flansvan and Taylor.

Ken,
They really only opened to accommodate the fishermen for the Mayfly hatching, Terry &Mary are heading off in their MH this weekend for a few months but said they might open for a while on their return in August so watch this space. ( subject to the place not being sold of course)
ps Alan was there but his front teeth had fallen out , ha ha , so he couldn't sing much- but still tortured us with his guitar playing.

I have fished Arrow before, lovely lough, but never stayed at the campsite. I would be very interested in any angling locations, especially where wild camping is possible. Have you ever fished at Easkey.
Still for sale - but not sold yet and Terry/Mary are now back and open till about end of August. Maybe we'll manage one more weekend there before we head off to France on the 25th August.

Thanks Ken , the kids are good singers but the music is mostly played over backing tracks . Here is a clip from last July where they sang some old songs for Ethel's 90th birthday. It rained and blew a hoolie all day but it didn't stop the fun.
ps For those who didn't know , Ethel was the lovely lady who lived in the bungalow beside the site and was always there to enjoy our singalong evenings. We were all saddened to hear that she had died earlier this month.

Hi Ken, hi Spatula.
Yes sounds very nice indeed. Afraid I can't compete with such talent. Mind you with a few pints I sometimes burst into a bar -no pun intended- or two. Everyone then seems to disappear!!
Regards
You would be very welcome Franco . The kids only sing amplified until about 9.30pm so as not to disturb any campers not wishing to join in, but after that ( when the drink has started to take effect) it's every man for himself . We have had some great singsongs with other members singing and playing acoustic guitars, flutes , mouth organs, fiddles, fiddlehorns, borons , squeezebox, spoons etc. All just good fun.
I would like to let people know that Lough Arrow has re-opened under new management and it's as wonderful as ever.
I have been going there almost every weekend during the season with my partner Von for the last number of years and we can honestly say we've never had a bad weekend there, even in this lovely Irish weather.
Two years ago we were devastated with the news that the former owners Terry & Mary had decided to sell the campsite. We did not know what we would do. We had tried other sites but had never felt as welcome and at home as we did at Lough Arrow. We instantly made so many wonderful friends there and were so upset at the thought of not being able to meet up there again.
Thankfully this is where Cath & John came to the rescue. They have bought the campsite & are doing an amazing job of running it. They have so many new plans for the site and we can not wait to see them all come to fruition. So if you're looking for a friendly, welcoming, pleasant (adults only) campsite please check out Lough Arrow Touring Caravan Park on Facebook or look them up online at http://lougharrowcaravanpark.com/ I know they will be only too happy to hear from you.
Just back from a weekend at Lough Arrow. Yes it is open and in full swing with lots of plans for the future. It is still Adults Only. (to be honest there is nothing much for kids there unless they are into fishing). Cath and John are wonderful hosts, so friendly; have never had such a welcome in over 20 years of camping and caravanning. We had one of their amazing cooked breakfasts with a huge cafetiere of fresh coffee on the Sunday and they also invited us to join them for a barbecue on the Saturday night, where they had laid on salads and bread etc. We met some regulars, the lovely Edith and Phil, Patsy and Von and everybody was so friendly and made us first-timers very welcome. Can't wait to go back. The big thing for us was the peace and quiet. We stopped going to our regular favourite sites as they have become so rowdy with badly behaved kids now and so we're so pleased to have found Lough Arrow as a place to wind down. I promised I'd do a Trip Advisor review but hmmmmm, I'm not so sure I don't want to keep this site below the radar! (sorry Cath and John!!)
