In case anyone is having issues with the new Ducato dash.

As many will be aware the latest model of Fiat Ducato has some issues with the dash.
The two issues are warning lights permanently on or poor visibility of the two main clocks.

Our 2016 Auto Trail had the battery light permanently on and I took it to Donnelly Fiat, Mullusk.

They checked it and found it needed the instrument cluster replaced. I spoke with the engineer who worked on it and he informed me it would be replaced with the new style clock which rectifies the visibility issues.
They also did two other recalls at the same time.

They have contacted me today to say the part has arrived.

Fingers crossed it sorts the problem.

All the Svell based vans have this problem, it's due to moisture being absorbed into the resin which seals the electronics. Be careful at Donnellys Mallusk, where they bring the vans/Motorhomes out from the workshop is very tight space wise and I witnessed them hit a car with the tail swing on a van shorter than yours, if I hadn't said to the owner that I heard the crack of plastics he wouldn't have known until he would have got it home and washed it, the employee had no intention of saying anything, then the workshop guys wanted to try and fill it and paint it, they got a short answer to that. It will be heading to Simon over the next week or so to be repaired with a new rear quarter panel. They can sort the car they hit!

Hi John,
I am really interested into the root cause of this problem and glad to finally hear someone mention this is due to moisture ingress. I have spoke to dealers about this problem and have been told by all that it is a design fault with the cluster. Quite vague im sure you'll agree. I'm curious to know where you found that information as I'm am trying to investigate further myself.

I had similar problems ie when I turned on the cruse control most of the other warning lights could be seen very dimly and more noticeably at night.
As I don't use the van in the winter months I was just out of warranty before I complained about it and Donaghey's replaced the dash on what they called a good will warranty.
I think the problem had been there from new and I hadn't noticed it during day time driving.

I was wrong about the day. It was in today to get the clock cluster replaced.

All went well and now sorted. The permanently lit speedo is an improvement too.

Definitely need the lit speedo. Terrible, and my poor eyesight doesn't help.

LOL
Give them a call Mark.
I think it is an option if you ask for it.

It only took about an hour to fit.
