You join a forum and you know no one. You meet up with others off that forum and build loads of friendships, you then do your own thing meeting up with the people you met. The forum then gets ignored as you have made your motorhome friends and you forget where you met them. You forget how daunting it was to go along to your first meet, you forget about all the new members who want that initial experience that you had, but, now ignore. You friend all the people you have met on that forum on Facebook, you then share your experiences and your photos with them friends, on facebook, you slowly edge away from the original format you met these people on, the forum.

This weekend give some thought to the people you met on Motorhomecraic, who would you not know if it was'nt for Motorhomecraic? what would you be doing if it wasn't for Motorhomecraic?

People forget too easily, ruining an experience they have had and ignoring all the others coming along who want the same thing, because they forget where they originally met.

I'm not moaning, I have ran forums before and seen it all before, don't let the above happen on here, remember the fact that you all met on here and keep it as fresh for newcomers as it was for you when you first joined.

NEW friends are there to be made and this is the forum to do that, not being selfish and keeping your new friends to yourself.

Did you read this far? nice one :D

 l haven't met any of you in person yet, or befriended you on Facebook, but I feel I know you enough to say " my arse" (in the right circumstances of course).
I look forward to meeting those going to Scarva. (That's if you let me in now)

Folks, have to say I have not met anyone yet that is part of the Craic. I have seen campers, particularly in Howth with Craicers stickers, but campers are either empty or a couple in a group already, so I did not approach anybody. Entirely my fault/decision, but, as I seem to flitter in and out of the forum, I have not yet said 'yes, I will go a meet'
However I find that contact on the forum is excellent, but I accept that I am not involved in making friends directly. We both thoroughly enjoy just making impromptu decision to go somewhere, and stay for two, or ten days. This does not readily fall into the pre planned meets.
Sooner or later we will meet with some of youse!!
I have probably lost the ability to search the various apps at this stage, but as I have sometime in coming days I hope to 're-ingage'
Regards to all

Making friends on a meet
Well to be honest I doubt that most on the meet that I went on will remember what we look like,
bl**ding drunken lot from morning to morning, still I suppose it was my fault giving them Zummerzet cider for breakfast.
:D   :D

:thx: for taking us in on our last trip great bunch

Ha Ha, we just started, having only gotten our new van on 1st August. Been to the North Coast for three days and now planning a short break to Sligo and Achill Island. I am the Motorhome equivalent of "Billy no mates", so would welcome the opportunity to make and meet up with some new friends. Just me and the wife now, so no brood along with us any more. We live in Dromara, county Down.

Hi there, like you, we hadn't met any Craicers until a few weeks ago. We ' bit the bullet' and went to the Delta Blues in Comber, had a brilliant night, made a few new friends and thoroughly enjoyed it. Since then we went to The Battery Bar and, although alone had a great night.
I do try and chat to motorhomers when I walk the dog at the aire at Donaghadee, we live down the road, but I don't see many Craic stickers and I'm sure people think ' who's this nutter in a car pretending to be a motorhomer !! Ah what the hell, thinks I, it's good to say 'hi'...!
As you say Ally, it's easy to forget why you joined a forum in the first place, the camaraderie, the info and the news of meets is all part the social scene of the motorhome. I, for one, will try not to and, at the end of the day, you only get out what you put in to life sometimes. Roll on the next opportunity for us to get together with some like minded peeps. :)

Should change my name to unhappy camper 2.
Bessie still in the shop.
Need to put a bit of pressure on to get her back. All my clothes are in her!
I forgot I even posted on this thread.
Think we will head to Donaghadee Aire or is it area? Next weekend if we ever get her back.
Seems like a popular place to meet Craicers.
Did I see Ally today heading towards Larne on the new dual carriageway? Or is there more than one Itenio in the country?
I waved from my little Peugeot van, but I was a nobody :(

Wasn't me. I know of two Itineo's, both craic'ers, in Ireland, maybe a tourist.

Absolutely agree.
Just back from a kids hurling feile after which a coach commented about how any kid could pick up a hurl and solitar, but it takes effort to play as a team.
Reading Allys original post on this topic is so true.

While I agree with you Malcolm, I cant help comparing Ally with a Priest shouting off the pulpit about all the people that aren't going to Mass to the few that are. He need his disciples to spread the news I think.

Not the target of the OP, it was more about those that are still here, to remind them to stick around even after they make all their new Motorhome friends and that there are always newbies wanting to experience what they did. Too late for some of the facebookers, they can't be cured :)

"make all their new Motorhome friends and that there are always newbies wanting to experience "

I just pity them if this is what they are letting themselves into. :D
