the only thing on my wish list when buying the camper that i didn't get was air conditioning for the living quarters.
i'm considering having a unit fitted.
whats peoples views on it?
necessary or not?
worth the money?

thanks

hi Trev, ive considered it long and hard. At over 1500euro to fit a decent one its a lot of money especially since it is only useable when you are on mains hook up, and even then they give off an irritating drone. There are smaller portable van set ups available but they are useless. IN the end I didn't fit. We so to central and southern Europe every summer with primary school aged kids in the height of summer. We do long drives at night, park in shady places, use silver screens and use 2 cheap electric fans when parked. I spend 300 euro on good quality roof vents that open fully and funnel air in with screens and removed the old fiamma type ones that only pop up, this made a big difference. Im more interested in spending money on lots of cold drinks! Also unless you are going around the Italian lakes, the Adriatic or Eastern Med you will not really need AC. 10 days on a site north of Barcelona last summer and we never once would have needed the AC at night, plenty of shade and ventilation and shade is much more pleasant.

Slightly off topic but I think worth a mention....

We use a 02 cool air 12 volt or battery fan, it circulates the air great but I don't think you can get them anymore.

However these are getting great reviews: HERE they look similar to ours only better.

Thule 400mm with clear dome, they open to >45deg. Donagheys Letterkenny for 80euro, they deliver. They have a mini heiki also with similar look and size but one action opening as opposed to wind open on the thule, those ones are 126euro

I spotted a van at the weekend and he had fish fin shaped devices on the roof over each vent.
Anyone know what they are.

They might be there to stop the rain coming in?
I like the freshlight system and have considered but like 544 - the £ was too high for ROI. So I stuck in a portable house unit and inverter, hang hose out window and sure its grand
