We bought 120w inverter which was on sale last week in Aldi €29.99, thinking of it for running TV if not on EHU? Not taken out of box but heading to France tomorrow (should I bring back). Is it worth keeping?
Found mixed reviews on similar from Halfords, E-Can by Ring which is 150w but costs nearly €52.50 (do I really need TV!!) comments like heavy on battery, (which battery car or leisure?) said fan makes a lot of noise. (I have a thing about noises, especially listening to new rattles when driving along ) We have new leisure battery and solar panels.

We do have plug ins to charge up mobiles etc when we are driving.

I would have thought you would need a much bigger one to run a TV. I have a 2000 one and have never had any problems with it.

Is the tv mains (230V )voltage only?

No 12v Input?

Check wattage of the tv

If the power required by the TV is less than 80 Watts or so this 120W Inverter will probably work ok.
(Losses in the inverter set-up, cables, joints etc. and inefficiencies in the power conversion, ?fan, within the inverter)

If it is a pure Sine wave inverter, it is probably worth having for charging/powering small electronic devices.

If it is a modified sine wave output, it is probably not much practical value in a motorhome.
Other people may disagree and have many very worthwhile uses!

A 12v tv is probably a better option if you get your hands on one.

I forget what the Wattage of the Tv we had was but I know it was less than that of the inverter but there appeared to be a surge of power needed to start it.

Items like tv's and microwaves have a start up surge which can be upwards of five times the running power, if the inverter can't cover that then it won't let the item run.

I have ONE OF THESE though a slightly different model. Mine is rated 140W continuous and 175W for 5 minutes. We spend a lot of time 'off grid' so it gets a lot of use and never caused a problem.

I use it to run ONE OF THESE and a Sky SD Pace Box and a small table lamp with a 14W CFL bulb in it after dark.

I also have a larger inverter for heavier loads.

Because all inverters have an inbuilt inefficiency it is recommended you use the smallest inverter capable of doing the job.

Just to say on first 2 nights on an Aires used ALDI € 29.99inverter (gentle hum off fan) and watched a very clear 1 hour of Soaps, but switched off as I didn't want to flatten main battery. Now we have EHU and satellite doesn't work, but as someone said earlier usually pick up till Bordeaux. I don't really mind missing the soaps, they all have same storylines :-).

On the other electric appliances we use one at a time just incase. We also had an Aldi/Lidl mini oven for last MH but only used once for a pizza,,but built in gas oven now.

The 120 inverter worked great fit TV, good reception.
Not sure further down in France.... La Rochelle, it may have had signal blocked by a tre.
It was run off mains battery, but on lookout for a DIN plug (or socket.) ??? to connect to leisure battery.
The inverter didn't make too much noise.
