Facebook do people actually read what you post

Some of you will use Facebook. I started using it a couple of years ago but I do wonder sometimes if my "friends" actually read what I post or simply hit the like button and scroll onto the next post from a "friend"
I recently posted
It's official, Strandcampingdoonbeg is the best campsite on the west coast of Ireland.
Well when I say official, on the basis of one reviewer on trip advisor.

Judging by the comments likes etc it was clear that a large number read the first line only.
I didn't intend to mislead anyone.

Anyway I'll be more careful in future.
It reminded me of a pub in my then home village that stated they were the proud winners of "IPGG" pub of the year in 2001 & 2002, what was the IPGG? Just some initials the same pub had made up.

Even if people do read it, it dissapears so far down their timeline in seconds that it never gets read again. Facebook doesn't get added to search engines.

So much stuff wrong with it yet people use it and a lot of people now know no better. Zuckerberg is a clever guy, he has built a platform for idiots, so easily used, on every device, a necessary evil. So many people introduced to the internet.............. sorry Facebook and they have a Facebook tablet or a facebook computer, what operating system are you running on that? errrr facebook.

What's one of your worst friends visits? when they bring around their photographs of their holiday or the slideshow of their wedding, yet here we are, on our devices everyday looking at that very thing on facebook, or are we?. 'LIKE' out of politeness and move on?

Remember when you used to take a photo of your dinner, send it away and get it developed and then drive around all your friends houses and show them the photo? no? nor do I.

"Come and see my new web page" err that's just a facebook page? another facebook page that no one will ever read.

"Friend me I'm on facebook" Look, I last talked to you in primary school, why the hell would I want to friend you?

Is it good for anything? yes, for keeping in touch with family, after all if you didn't facebook then you would have to text them, ring them, viber them, skype them, whatsapp them, instagram them, tweet them, email them, send them a letter or actually f***ing talk to them!

Is it here to stay, unfortunately it is, maybe not in its current form but something like it, is. It will carry on consuming the internet until all we have is facebook for interactions and google for everything else - nothing else will exist. The internet will become like our High Streets, owned and ran by big companies, pushing the little man aside. All the good shops (discussions, information) will be gone and we will once more be left as the brain dead - reading what we are fed, being told how to think.

Everyone wants their slice of the internet and quite rightly so, but it's a bit like the housing market, make it too easy, make it too affordable, make the model so easily copied that it then becomes of no value to anyone.

I could go on........... :D :D

Could you? Or did you?
Like a lot of things it has its uses, tracing owners of lost things, getting the word out about certain things, keeping in touch with others when distance or time is an issue. I don't have to call individual family or friends simply post on facebook etc. Its is also useful for me to see what others are upto.

Oh I could and will :D

This is where people make the mistake, it's handy for all the things you stated above that much is true.

But it's as much true as this is...

Internet Relay Chat (IRC) was a far superior means of chatting on the internet, still is, than facebook will ever be.

Photo albums were far superior when they were more private and under your own account on a website such as photobucket.

Usenet and bulletin boards which became forums were and are far better for information than facebook will ever be.

Video calling was what Skype was good at and still is, but facebook does that now.

The problem being Facebook does that much no one looks for anything else, so applications that are better don't get looked at, they don't get used they dissapear. Sure if facebook does it why do we need the others? because Facebook has you sucked in, you are a slave to it's design, if it's not on Facebook then it doesn't exist and Facebook isn't very good at what it does, sure it's brilliant but it has severe limitations. The internet is knowledge but is quickly turning into something else.

Facebook is like going to the library and reading the same book over and over and over because that's the book everyone else is reading.

The internet was working brilliantly before Facebook, now Facebook is the internet for some.

It's putting the internet into a business model, diluting the information putting it behind a virtual wall and forcing you to access it by that one model alone.

Can I say "I love my own quote" 😁

P.s. I'm finding some of my FB rants for someone, hence these popping up again.
