Spare Thetford Cassette

Bought a spare cassette, they looked identical but they are not. Only one part is different, the circled part in the picture, what do you call that? doesn't seem to be a code on it anywhere. I need the one that is circled to replace the other type, in fact need two now as luck would have it the original one has started leaking.

It is called the automatic vent. Here is a link to the page assuming it is a C200

http://www.thetford-europe.com/download-product/c200/

You may well already have found it.

I had a problem with a sticking vent some time ago, I was able to remove it (think it was a quarter turn and pull out) this allowed me to clean and replace it with success. Worth trying that.

Cheers Davy, I'll try cleaning the original one before I order two.

It seems the one on the left which I have is an external vent system, it goes to a pipe to vent the smells out below the van. I just mentioned at the weekend that I get no smells from the toilet, now I know why!

Yes, our van has an inbuilt extractor under the cassette. It is a Thetford C260. There appears to be a duct through the bottom of the cassette like a toilet siphon.

When you press the flush button the fan runs for 5 minutes. Seems quite efficient and does not need hoses etc fixed to the vent.

As a spare for those times when there is nowhere to empty the first one, which has happened a few times, not used it yet but plan is to make very sure it doesn't have any leaks and then store it in the garage. Might build a rack in below the van that it slides onto and locks in place.
