Newcastle, Co Down

Took a drive down yesterday afternoon to Newcastle, in the motorhome as I was going a bit mad in the house. On arriving I knew from past experience not even to try the car park at the Slieve Donard as the bay's are too tight and the back end of the van would block the cars from getting through the car park. So headed down to Donard park and the long bays were the buses and other long vehicles park is marked out and signed for "Strictly Buses Only" the other car bays don't allow anything longer as a car to park as they have barriers between the two rows.

Is this a recent thing or have I been blind to it before and where the hell are you supposed to park, after all I was only down for the afternoon.

Just had a look on google street view and the bay's were marked buses only, no signage, so that's newish and no barriers between the two rows of car bays so again that's newish.

Looks like motorhomers are no longer welcome in Newcastle

I know I probably should but having been there and parked before I have never noticed the large sign saying Strictly Buses Only, is there a change in what is tolerated, 12hr rule etc.

(I was jesting) :)

I don't think so, I know a few who parked in Newcastle at Easter with no problems. Paul and I noticed the new signs in the bus bays, but I think that is more to keep cars out, when we talked to the enforcement officer he said no one will book you on the bus bays as they are in charge of it, not the red coats. Not a place I would like to overnight though?

We stayed across the road overnight with no problems.
