There's a sign at the top of the road but no signs outside the heritage centre, Google the heritage centre

Stayed there last year no problems, if you are taking up one and a half car parking spaces put two parking tickets on the dash and the traffic wardens will be happy.

Prefer not to pay, but don't mind as long as its reasonable. Pier looks good.

Pay and display is only in force during the day, not at night. The traffic wardens are sound but if you are sticking out on to the road or into another parking spot without a second ticket they'll pounce. I think the parking charge was one euro for the day.

Sorry folks, my comments above refer to Donegal, not Westport. :sorry: I don't know how I mixed them up, I must have been having a blond moment  I did stay in Westport a few years ago in the car park behind the garda station. Arrived around 8:30 in the evening and was gone before 8AM, no problems.

Hello Richhill
You have a few options
1.Westport house campsite with all the necessities.
2.Park on the Pier out by the Quay near the Heritage center.
3. Park in the car parks after 6 p.m in town center.
4. Park in Lidl car park in evening and go in morning.
5.Tuck yourself away in big car park at shopping area near Tescos near the train station.
6. Park on mall in town center in the evening.
If you need any more info ask.Campers park in all these areas in Westport.

Thanks Ham and Jam. Have mobility problems and hope not to have to walk too far, although if there's no rush I can dander along at a slow pace. Also have three Boxers to think about too - one a golden oldie who walks at my pace.
Checked out Westport house and discovered a no dog sign, their web site doesn't appear to be working properly at the moment so might try phoning them.
Prefer quite at night so town carparks may not be best option.
Thanks again.

Hello Richhill the policy on dogs only seems to apply in July and August peak season .Give them a ring they will give you a definitive answer.
