Hessy is having an issue with going from forward to reverse and when going up the gears into her fifth.
Anyone replace the gear shift fork in these gearboxes?
2.5td. 1992. Engine 8140.27 if memory suits me in Cork after a late night drive and v early start

Hessy don't know whether it's relevant or not but I read somewhere about the gearbox having a wall (can't think of the right word) in it and oil needs to be both sides of the wall - could it be there isn't enough oil in the gearbox? When the gearbox was rebuilt on my old girl (same as yours and yes it's 8140.27) the garage had to go back to the original gearbox builder (in Italy) to get the replacement parts no where else supplied them sadly.

The garage was in Budapest (Hungary and I can't ask the guy for the details as I am now seeing his wife (soon to be ex!)

I will do some digging around in the next couple of days and see what I can find for you. I do know he had to wait nearly two weeks for the parts to arrive (completely rebuilt the gearbox so I know the parts are available.

I think he knew something was going on between me and his missus as I have had my fair share of problems in the past twelve months with it. Thankfully all seems to be good now with both the van and his missus!

Hear - see adding another litre of gear oil and bringing it to its correct level - makes all the difference!!
The gears ran totally smoothly up and down the races the whole way up from Cork today!

It is that devide between the gearboxes that stopped the oil getting through but sure after a few hundred miles - it shot it through now!
I still will try to get the shifter on flea bay over the while - just incase it is required at a later stage!

On the wish list hessy, at the moment we're driving a hymercamp 55 lhd which is like a 544 layout with an overcab bunk, but the running gear is the same as yours but I have to say the gear selection is nice and precise, the reason I asked is I believe the rhd with the floor change can get very messy!

Mine is a fiat Ducati based 564 RHD and your right about the gear linkage being messy. There are three small bars with ball sockets on each end.

Short lived run around - gearbox still filled with oil and the reverse is not playing ball again. So its off to the Doctor in Dungannon :o
Gormelys are doing the repairs =

Well Hessy went to the Doctors today and i thought that i would not be able to get her out of the drive as it takes a 3 point uphill reverse manouvre to get out the gate - and it slips perfectly into reverse :-/  >_<
Drove to dungannon perfectly and into all gears including lovely engaugement into reverse 🇧🇭
Similar to going to doctors - day of appointment - feel fine now!
So they adjusted the gear train and think it is grand now :fgrin:
Pick up on Friday

I had what sounds like a very similar problem with a 1.9 Peugeot Boxer 2001 and the problem turned out to be some water in the gearbox oil. A change of gearbox oil resolved it completely.
Good luck. Hopefully it is easily and inexpensively resolved.

Hi and good morning Joe - hope you slept well - it is still a live post as Hessy still not rectified and I am seeking the motorhomer from Dundalk who is heading down to Darragh's place today or tomorrow to get bits. Perhaps he/she could Piggy back abit up north a bit for us?
Cheers

Gearbox up north and delivered for fitting.
Wayhay - soon on the road.
Doubt that there are many motorhomers up north given the amount I seen heading south on Friday and Saturday!

Ok - so the criac is - Hessy has got her existing gearbox O-) :* Refurbished O-) and her reestablishment on the roads is near complete

The replacement gearbox which I got from Darragh although fully operational with I think 94K km on it - it is not being used and is to head back down the road again when I can.

4 Weeks without Hessy is so difficult :( :'( - craicing weather for ditching, pitching and fishing
