It looks so peaceful and tranquil. Enjoy - get the Rod out and catch dinner?

are people stopping over in Carlingford itself these days? I thought they weren't camper friendly..... or is that around at the port itself?

Absolutely no problem where we are. Helgahobby here as well. Had a lovely meal in the sailing club restaurant. Spoke to Dermot the owner explained we down here in MHs and would be recommending his establishment to our friends on here and he was more than happy saying he would look after everyone. Best smithwicks on tap I've tasted in years. Picked up his card and I'll give it to Ally next time I see him.

we had talked to someone in a MH at Silver Strand (it may have been Mark from here, not sure, similar van) who had talked about the Gardaí trying to move them on from Carlingford after they'd had a few.

Is the sailing club open to the public? we normally dine in PJ OHares in the town itself

Do the sailing club allow overnight parking for mhs if using their restaurant?

Never asked the owner. Completely forgot as we were already parked up for the night. I will say that he and the staff made us feel more than welcome.

As far as I recall, their carpark was very slopey, so the pier is much better.

Last time I was there the signs had gone, but it won't help that a few weekends ago someone in a MH was parked length ways across the parking area.

Can park beside the activity club, not the sailing club.

You are correct t18con, there is a sign up beside the castle, at the civil defence building, but and its a big but, we were talking to a man called Shane who is also a MH'er and works on that side of the harbour, when I said to him there was a sign bside the castle pier, he said and I quote " If anyone says anything tell them Shane from Louth Adventures said it was ok," He went on to describe all the plans that are in place with funding from Failte Ireland for the Carlingford Harbour area, and plans in place for a mountain bike track in the forest area behind the town, also the parts of the pier that he works from, he will be looking to put in EHU in the future. All this is without the say so of the local busy bodies, He even described to us the fact there is now a split in the local tourist office. He even told me where I could top up my fresh water from on the pier without asking anyone. Down as far as parking along side the harbour pier wall, (plenty of room to reverse down), he said as long as you stay tight to the wall and not obstruct other users, nothing can be said, and if it is, refer back to the first statement. When I asked him about the Carlingford Adventures site, his reply was, he owns inside the fenced area and the building, the rest of the area is public property. He is well aware of the spending power of the MH'ers and this is what he uses as a selling point to failte Ireland, for the grants he has received and is going after in the future.

On a lighter note, Charlie and Fergus had to have a drink of water after a long walk through the village.

This was after Charlie dry humped the leg of the post mistress. A lady of advanced years, who asked if the dog was for sale!
