Whale aquasource water filler

Ok first question second to follow

On the Autosleeper there is not simply a hole to fill the on board tank but a whale system
With the van came a pipe and pump to fill from a container absolutely no room to carry any thing other than a fold down bucket in this van and that might be a problem and take a dam long time to fill the onboard tank (which has another pump)
Can get a whale connector jobbey to fill with a hose but it costs about GBP50 for a connector and 7.5m of hose (and reports on it are not great)
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CARA…oVRFjq73VQ
So I am guessing that some of you have this fitted to your van what do you do

The whale system is reported as being slow to fill, but if you connect it and leave it running while you get on with other things it will be ok and you won't notice.

A way around it would be to find the water tank access hatch and run a hose directly to the tank.

The aqua source in the link is primarily designed for on site with a dedicated tap for each pitch.
It will fill your tank (slowly)but is more useful on site as it will keep the tank topped up as you use water from it.

The speed will be an issue on some Aires in France as they have a timed period for fresh water rather than a capacity limit.

I think this has been a common complaint from Auto sleeper owners for years.

Do you not have access to the inboard tank? johns idea is best, we sometimes use this when the hose is to short to go the other way.

No is the short answer
Autosleeper it seems went over the top with this van.
It says that the tank is winter insulated and I have been through all the usual places it is not to be seen so it must be in a biggish box that is under the van.
Did think about taking out the Whale thing and just fitting a normal fill instead but can also see advantage of being able to take water from outside if you run short like on a rally for example
Guess will tut for a few more days and then buy the whate attachment

Surely there is some sort of access hatch to the tank, after all you need to be able to get at the tank to drain it down

Think that there was some clever bu**er who designed this. Even the water heater and habitation heater (and the leisure battery is in there) are fully boxed in under the big bench seat. Screwed down with a 4 inch round hole to put your hand through to reach the drain down for the water heater. To drain down the main water tank there is a BLUE Tap on a stainless steel flexible pipe that is clipped on the outside of van that you can put into a drain to empty. In case you wonder there is an identical system for the grey water tank apart from the fact that the tap is GREY.
Have now found the locations of the tanks they sit side by side in the centre of the van one each side of the rear axle.

All good fun init

David

Edited half a hour later after reading loads on the Autosleeper Forum, loads of pros and cons of the system sure I will get on with it after all it is still just carry a pipe only this time it has to have a special connector. One advantage over the normal system is that it cannot overfill as it has a cut off valve in the connector.
